I paint in many different styles and with many different materials and techniques depending on the demands of a series of work or a commission. My main output however nowadays is abstract and I use a technique that I have developed over many years of combining traditional methods which I learned at art school in the early sixties with digital wizardry that I have taught myself in the last 15 years or so.

I will design a painting with a pen and paper, then rough out colours and fine tune composition in the computer, add scanned textures and painted elements using acrylics, inks and pastels, maybe print out a high resolution print of the result so far and work over it again until I am happy with the result. This process can be repeated many times before a painting is finished. Or not! I always use archival quality inks, paints and papers.

Over the years I have painted landscapes, surreal figurative, illustrative work based on rock’n’roll songs and the plays of William Shakespeare as well as many other series.
