Signs of the Zodiac - astrological paintings

This series of mixed media paintings, acrylics and ink on canvas, is an interpretation of the Signs of the Zodiac. I have always been interested in astrology, more from an historical and scientific, and perhaps, rather skeptical, point of view. I had never viewed astrology in a spiritual way however having researched the visual components of each sign and interviewed a professional astrologer I have found myself more and more intrigued!

Each painting represents a sign, it's associated planet, element, house attributes, gender, glyphs, colours, flowers, stones and, of course, it's main identifying iconic image. I have tried to capture the 'feel' or 'personality' of each sign. Hidden away in each painting are references to my own natal birth reading which I was given by one of the astrologers I discussed the series with. A reading which I have to say to my surprise, was uncannily accurate!
